Simone Hardeman-Jones
Executive Director, GreenLight Fund Twin Cities Simone Hardeman-Jones is the founding Executive Director of GreenLight Fund Twin Cities which partners with community, industry, entrepreneurial, and philanthropic leaders to bring social innovation solutions that fill unmet local needs, help break down entrenched barriers, and address deep-rooted disparities in order to create opportunities for children and families to thrive. Simone has a deep understanding of the role that systems play and the impact they have in the lives of some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged in our communities. She served as National Director of Policy and Partnerships at Educators for Excellence and as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Office of Legislation and Congressional Affairs at the U.S. Department of Education in the Obama Administration. Earlier, Simone was a policy advisor to Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and the late Senator Kay R. Hagan (D-NC). Born and raised in Minneapolis, Simone resides in the Twin Cities with her husband and toddler son. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, serves on the boards of the Minnesota Alliance With Youth and Ed Allies and is a member of the Breck School Alumni Council. Marcia L. Page
Co-Founder and Executive Chair of Värde Partners Värde Partners is a global alternative investment management firm with $14 billion in assets under management. Marcia co-founded the firm in 1993. She chairs the Partner Committee and is a member of the firm's Investment Committee. As a founder, Marcia has overseen every aspect of Värde’s growth, ranging from the development of the original investment thesis, to raising capital for Värde’s funds, to the crafting of the firm’s investor communications, to the development of the firm’s infrastructure. Marcia built the liquid investing side of the business, first focusing on all aspects of the day-to-day investing and portfolio management and then building the business on a world-wide basis, including moving to London as she built the liquid side of the business there. Marcia has played key roles in various portfolio companies owned by the Värde funds as well as serving on creditors' committees. Marcia transitioned from Co-Chief Executive Officer and Co-Chief Investment Officer to Executive Chair in 2016. Prior to founding Värde, Marcia served as vice president of EBF & Associates, an alternative investment firm. There, she managed Merced Partners, an investment partnership. Prior to EBF & Associates, Marcia traded distressed and high yield bonds and managed fixed income portfolios at Cargill. Marcia graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College with a B.A. in Economics and received an M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. She serves on the Board of Trustees and as Chair of the Investment Committee of Gustavus Adolphus College. She is on the Board of Overseers of the Carlson School of Management. She serves on several private company boards and investment committees. She is a member of The Committee of 200. |
Alex West Steinman
Co-Founder and CEO, The Coven Alex is a Swiss Army Knife who knows how to raise humans and build public relations strategies for businesses, politicians, startups, and non-profits. As co-founder of The Coven, a community and work space for women and non-binary folks, she is dedicated to the economic empowerment of women in the Twin Cities. Prior to co-founding The Coven, Alex held the positions of Communications Director for advertising agency Fallon, Minneapolis City Council candidate Jillia Pessenda, and Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges. Leading PR and communications strategy and execution, she gets joy from telling stories from underestimated communities. She’s been recognized for her inclusive economy work both locally and nationally, receiving the University of Minnesota Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication Above the Fold Award, AdFed’s 32 Under 32 Award, and Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Award. She’s a 2019 Bush Fellow and an Inc Magazine 100 Female Founders. She received the 2020 Best Entrepreneur Award from City Pages and the 2020 Amex 100 for 100 award. Alex loves her two kids, husband, Oprah, and Beyonce in no particular order. She’s genuinely a people-person who enjoys a good cry. |
Rabbi Marcia Zimmerman
Temple Israel Rabbi Marcia A. Zimmerman has been the senior rabbi of Temple Israel in Minneapolis since 2001. She was the first female rabbi at Temple Israel, a congregation of more than 2,000 households in the heart of Minneapolis, and was the first female rabbi to serve a congregation of this size in the United States. Rabbi Zimmerman earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, and was ordained at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR). Rabbi Zimmerman is vocal and active on policy issues affecting Minnesota and the nation, honoring the words above Temple Israel’s entrance: “Our house shall be a house of prayer for all peoples.” Rabbi Zimmerman is dedicated to ensuring that Temple Israel’s programming, educational opportunities, and worship are inclusive and celebrate people of color, diverse learning styles and special needs, all genders and gender expressions, the LGBTQ community, and interfaith families. |
